I've use their video converter for a couple of years quite happily, so I thought I would try this package out.
I am extremely disappointed with the DVD Creator. True it is very simple to use and that’s the problem – it is SIMPLE. There is no way of creating a menu. If you “merge … multiple movies and episodic files”, that’s all it DOES. Merge into one large movie with no “chapters” to skip.
So if you want simple OK, if you want a reasonable tool – forget this product – Thumbsdown for usefulness on the Creator alone.
Aplus DVDCopy ----- Basically this just copies a DVD from 1 place to another, with the option to transcode the video so a dual layer DVD will fit on a cheaper, single layer blank. Can't say how well it works because on XP Pro SP3 32 it only crashed on me, probably due to some conflict or other with the loads of video-related software I already have installed. No Matter, because DVDCopy is hardly what I'd call essential...

Aplus DVD Creator ---- This program lets you put your audio/video files on a Video DVD. It uses the NCT code libraries (that it puts in Windows' System32 folder) that many running Vista have reported problems with. It also uses some code from the free Linux app, DVD Author, which requires some cygwin files to run in Windows... older versions are included (probably for compatibility with older versions of Windows) & these can also cause problems. Aplus DVD Creator does not let you do DVD menus or chapters etc.

Aplus DVD Ripper ---- This is best used for making smaller framed copies of DVD video... It uses ffmpeg, which is cool (if a bit slow), & includes an older version of the Xvid encoder. Rather than strip any DRM from a DVD, so you have the original audio/video files, Aplus DVD Ripper appears to take snapshots, recording the DVD's running video. Unfortunately there aren't enough output format choices to compete with other apps for conversion to/for portable players, including many previously on GTOD,

Alternatives:
DVDFab has a free version that will copy a disc to your hard drive. Once there, ImgBurn will put it on a disc. If you want to go from dual layer to single, DVD Shrink or its sibling, Nero Recode, will copy just the video & audio you want, which usually is all it takes -- they also give the option to reduce the size, but the loss of quality is noticeable if you decrease the size by more than 10%. If at 90% the audio/video still won't fit, best option is to consider burning a dual layer blank.
There are loads of alternative DVD creating programs, many free or low cost. DVDs use mpg2 video & usually AC3 audio, so trans-coding what you've got can be a major part of the job. If the time it takes to encode your video is a big concern, you might want to look at utilities that use your graphics card's GPU -- it might only take minutes instead of an hour, or several (depending on system speed), but you'll need to handle the audio separately. Software that focuses more on DVD features, like nicer menus, most often assumes you've already got your content ready. Many, like the entry level versions of Sony DVD Architect, will encode your content for you, but won't import a lot of formats. Others will take just about anything under the sun, but you're limited when it comes to menus &/or DVD features.
The free version of Muxman is ideal if your audio & video are already prepared, & you don't want/need menus. I like to play with menus & features, & I personally like the Sony apps -- you can pick up the casual user versions for cheap if you find them on sale (usually with MIR). The free DVD Author is very capable, but there can be a steep learning curve. The Windows GUIs for DVD Author vary quite a bit, but one of the simpler (more limited) versions is called DVD Styler -- a new portable version was just released at Portableapps.com, which has little if any impact on your PC if you want to give it a try. There are a few versions available of DVDLab (pay-ware), if you like a lot of control & don't mind getting your hands dirty, but your content better be ready beforehand. In between the extremes there are several (many shareware) apps you can also check out at videohelp.com -- many are popular, make a great compromise with a lot of flexibility, accepting a lot of formats, but the DVDs they produce sometimes (but not often) have problems. Same with the entry level DVD software from Sonic -- easy to use with a reasonable amount of features, but I wouldn't use it for home DVDs I intended to pass out to relatives -- I don't want even the slightest chance someone's player might have problems, since I don't like playing tech support.

ma speravo che gente che rovina l'ambiente e potenzialmente scoraggia persone a frequentare il sito fosse molesta anche per gaotd. dopotutto se la gente non posta perche non gli piace l'ambiente il sito rischia di perdere u po d visibilta. inoltre non e che ci faccia una gran bella figura.

no è sufficiente che li posti nei due 3d aperti, uno "Alternative free al software del giorno" e l'altro "Approfondimenti,Tutorial,How to".
Per ciò che riguarda GAOTD e l'autenticazione degli utenti, sinceramente credo che non gli interessi affatto.
In pratica, come per ciò che riguarda la parte commerciale, noi non siamo altro "che carne da macello", per cui, le richieste di software o le proteste sulle ripetizioni di software, da loro non saranno, secondo me, mai prese in considerazione.
Questo perchè il loro cliente di riferimento sono le software houses che si devono fare pubblicità, noi non facciamo testo.
Pertanto che si scriva correttamente tu o io o che ci siano esaltati come Giovi od il gruppo Fiorella/Borg (di trekkiana memoria), fintanto che non gli creano troppi problemi sono tollerati se non bene accetti, in fondo fanno contatti che servono per dimostrare la visibilità del sito.
Non penso che qualcuno in USA (parlo di software house) venga in questa sezione e si metta a leggere ciò che c'è scritto (o almeno spero che non lo faccia per ovvii motivi)

probabilmente intendevi dire baggianate e non baccianate.
In ogni caso, se devo spendere un pò del mio tempo per dare indicazioni su di un programma,e poichè non sono obbligato a scrivere qui da nessuno, ma sono contento comunque di poter mettere a disposizione le nozioni (forse poche) che ho, piuttosto che inserirmi tra fuori di testa e frustrati megalomani, preferisco farlo in un ambiente, dove ciò che scrivo può essere accettato o criticato (in modo costruttivo), ma dove posso scegliere io i miei interlocutori graduandoli sulla base di rispetto ed educazione che sono, per me, alla base dei rapporti reali o virtuali.

non ho idea di come fare per inviare mp. non ho molto tempo e non mi va di smucinare nel sito.
ho inviato messaggi a gaotd in merito al meccanismo di autenticazione degli utenti. lo ripeto a te. amio giudizio e debole. adesso per esempio io per postare devo mettere un nick (che posso inventare e che puo essere qualsiasi cosa anche admin sei una merda vedi post precedenti per il sw precedenti) e inserire una mail, inoltre tutto questo deve essere fatto al momento del post.
ora la mail puo essere benissimo una mail temporanea, non viene fatto nessun controllo in merito. quindi quando premo "invia" il mio post e nick vengono accettati. questo permette di rubare i nick perche io potrei benissimo mettere il tuo per esempio e il sistema lo accetterebbe. la possibilita di inserire mail temporanee impedisce un vero controllo perche un tente bannato con un click puo sempre creare una nuova mail. di qui il mio giudizio sulla debolezza del sistema.
e la prova e che fiorella continua a postare nonostante sia una presenza avidentemente molesta per gaotd.
sarebbe opportuno (come ho consigliato a gaotd) legare i post ad un login preventivo. l'account dovrebbe essere legato ad una mail verificata come avviene in tutti i siti seri. questo permetterebbe una piu efficace moderazione.
sono contento che il forum sia aperto d'ora in po postero li.

devo dire che per un volta sono d'accordo con quanto afferma giovi.
dvd shrink ha delle ottime potenzialita.
tuttavia non rippa i dvd (permette solo di editarlo levando roba) e al max lo converte ad avi ma in modo non compresso (il formato avi nel vero senso del termine) questo almeno la versione free.
la capacita di dimunire lo spazio in dvd e limitata solo al fatto di togliere roba dal dvd e poi convertirlo lo ribadisco in uncompressed avi.
e un ottimo dvd copier (lo uso da anni) tuttavia non riesce sempre a fare il suo lavoro. a volte il filmato output e risutato scattoso (mi e successo con il mio dvd originale di star wars III per esempio) che volevo proteggere dall'usura. inutile dire che ho dovuto ricorrere a sw a pagamento per farlo. ma ora il mio star wars III rimane nel suo cofanetto anche quando voglio vedere il film ed e protetto.

Today's offer is not bad at all but in my humble view can't stand comparison with the award-winning DVD SHRINK which is always FREE with a far better COMPRESSOR FEATURE than this (the best DVD-9 to DVD-5) providing two ways of shrinking your DVD disk: re-authoring and/or re-encoding!!!!
So what's the point of charging 52 bloody BUCKS for this program if you can do the same job and more (see for instance its fabulous built-in decryption algorithm which allows you to overcome the DVD encrypted titles that usually prevent users from either copying or playing them on their hard drive), getting a far better OUTPUT QUALITY as well, with the freeware and award-winning DVD SHRINK?

So all in all a good SW but I stick with DVD SHRINK even though Aplus DVD Copy Creator Ripper Studio is FREE today.

The Good
DVD Shrink has great compression capabilities. It’s fast, effective and its ease of use will let any user (novice or pro) run it without any problems. It has great backup options and great features. One of the few of its kind that lets you manipulate the material you have on it. From subtitles to menus, you can keep or get rid of anything that’s not necessary. Re-authoring does save time. You also get the ability to burn with Nero now.
The Bad
But, at the same time, the Re-Authoring function doesn’t seem to be that useful, you can do everything you do from Re-Authoring in ‘Backup’. Other than that I find nothing wrong with it. It’s still a great program.
The Truth
In my opinion, it’s the reigning champion of its field. There are so many reasons why you should have this program on your computer. Aside from being free, fast and effective, it’s easy to use, it has a clean interface and it’ll get the job done. If you haven’t used it yet, then that’s your loss. Grab this guy while it’s still free.

Ho scaricato il programma e mi sono ritrovato 3 file di installazione (Aplus DVD Copy.exe, Aplus DVD Creator.exe, Aplus DVD Ripper.exe
Quindi il software di oggi si compone 3 programmi che si devono installare separatamente, e non un software unico che li contiene tutti e tre all'interno, giusto?

sarebbe bastato spostare tutto nel forum di GAOTD, come avevamo fatto e come cercavamo di fare con l'aiuto di TurboD che postava lì i suoi importanti commenti e le recensioni.
Ma nessuno di voi ha avuto la voglia o non so che altro, di semplicemente cliccare in fondo ai commenti e scrivere lì.
Da parte mia sto organizzando un blog da alcuni giorni nel quale oltre ad indicare vari Freeware ed Open Source, inserirò commenti sui programmi di GAOTD che reputo più interessanti o non ripetitivi (vedi i soliti convertitori). Quando farà qualche recensione in merito a questo, lo indicherò qui.

Uno che - grazie al cielo - ha molti soldi usa anche sistemi operativi per ricchi come Vista 64 bit, Windows 7 RC business edition 64 bit e Windows 2008 server SP 2, quindi non saprebbe cosa farsene di un programma per poveri come quello descritto.

i seriali i registrazione sono nel file read me. preciso che non e una regola quindi prossimamente non ti aspettare di trovarli li se scarichi altri sw.
puoi usare qualsiasi username per la registrazione. solo il seriale deve essere quello.

su vista non riesce la fase di registrazione dei files (durante l'installazione quando dice registering files) ma il programma sul disco rigido dovrebbe esserci. a tutta prima sembra essere un problema con la libreria runtime di vista.
segnalo cmq che zemana amtilogger mi segnala attivita di tipo keylogging da parte dell'exe di dvd creator. forse e un falso positivo
ma non mi e mai capitato con zemana. meglio se lo tenete d'occhio.

a me su vista non si installa, provato come administrator e anche in modalità compatibilità(come suggerito sopra) dopo aver seguito correttamente le fasi di installazione non c'è traccia del sw...il nulla piu totale.

Dopo che hai installato i tre programmi, aprili e dovrai inserire, dopo aver cliccato su Register,per ciascun programma, il numero seriale che tu copierai dal file reame.txt. AplusDVDCopy e AplusDVDCreator ti chiederanno anche il tuo nome per la licenza.

Anch'io voto pollice su. Questo programma mi soddisfa (non ho esigenze particolari e mi sta bene perdere magari qualcosina in sofisticatezza, ma avere diverse situazioni insieme sotto controllo.

beh un ripper vale l'altro. lo stesso dicasi per il copier
di questo programma e interessante che abbia il ripper,il dvd copier ed il creator integrati nello stesso sw (in genere sono separati).
il ripper converte in un buon numero di formati e a giudicare dalle 2 prove che ho fatto senza un apparente perdita di qualita. la velocita e in linea con la media dei ripper in circolazione (Ce ne sono di piu veloci ma puo andare)
il copier idem fa quello che deve fare in modo abb efficiente.
l'editor e un po basico (non ha molte opzioni) ma dopotutto non e che ci si puo aspettare che un sw che integra 3 funzioni abbia molte feature in ognuna di esse.
nel compelsso e un buon software che puo permettere di eliminare dal proprio arsenale qualche sw. il mio consiglio e di eliminare eventuali ripper E COPIER (CHE IN LINEA DI MASSIMA faranno le stesse cose) e invece tenere il dvd editor che potrebbe risultare un po piu completo.
