Used previous versions and it sells itself as a bit of a jack of many trades and some of the utilities on board can be useful from a sort of one stop shop Batman PC utility belt.

Then there are some that are either completely useless such as registry defrag or the ones to use with caution such as registry cleaner and even some that may seem unusual to see in such a tool 'Split any type of file into smaller pieces and rejoin them to the original file ' plus the ones that are really just marketing 'Makes sure that no data thief can get his hands on your sensitive data '

But on the whole, it's not a bad little suite of utilities that also has a one click optimise option, which I would be a little wary of as from my experience WinUtilities can be a little over aggressive with it's one click feature.

So potentially worth having on your machine but I would advise using the tools that you need, when you need them, except for the general junk tool that can be used every day.

if your installer, like mine, doesn't install anything...just goes to the "successfully activated" pop up, click the link for the installer website in the description, and dl and install v 15...then copy and paste the username and code from the readme. it did work to register that way. but the wrapper in today's download does seem to be defective.

I had no problem installing today's download in the conventional way, so the package is unlikely to be defective. However, the wrapper is indeed notorious for causing problems when people forget to temporarily halt whatever security software they may be running. And depending on what anti-malware app one is running, problems can manifest in different ways: some AV programs simply quash the installer because their heuristics view it as "suspicious", and some progs fail to report that they've even done this, and other security programs don't specifically target the GOTD installer, but somehow interfere with it just enough to @#$! up the installation in myriad bizarre ways, causing much head-scratching and frustration to the user--which one sees showing up in the comments here virtually every single day!

So my simple advice (the same given every day by the more experienced users) is: if it appears that something has gone amiss with the installation, *temporarily* turn off your anti-malware/anti-virus/HIPS programs (and it's evident that some users can be running more than one--possibly without their knowledge--which can further complicate matters) and RE-TRY.

Many people, while in a state of frustration and exasperation due to a problematic install, come and post "download is corrupt!!" or "the fraggin installer is broken!" while somehow selectively ignoring the posts right above them from users who had downloaded the same file, and installed the program without any incident.

P.S.: That's not to say that there can't sometimes be real problems with the GOTD offering, but that is almost always an issue on the developer's end (e.g., an incorrect user key, overloaded registration servers, sometimes wacky and convoluted confirmation processes, etc.), as opposed to a legitimately defective installation file.

I grabbed this because I am already familiar with the program. It's always had a good reputation.

No problems with installation. You can use your own name in the registration field which is a plus for me.

This is a good program with a nice set of tools like the usual, reg cleaner, history cleaner, optimizer, etc. plus it will password protect files for you and even split and join files. It's a lot like Glary Utilities Pro.
