You are exactly right.

For the advanced user, check the following files and see if they exist in the C:\windows32 and or C:\windows\SysWOW64 directories:

akdmo.dll, akmfpl.dll, akwmadmod.dll, AKWMADMOE.dll, AKWMVDECOD.dll, AKWMVENCOD.dll, and AKWMVXENCD.dll. These are all Windows Media Runtime files and should be installed by default to the system directories.

Therefore they are not needed in the Tipard directtory.

Just to be safe, rename them first, then execute the program.

If it works properly, delete them from the Tipard directory.

This will save you 5.6MB of space. All Tipard products as well as the affiliate programs install these unneccc3ssary files.

If you're strictly using the English version, you can delete splashscreen_de.png, splashscreen_fr.png, and splashscreen_ja.png. This will save 118KB

Check for pthreadGC2.dll, ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll. These files are most likely in the System directories as well and can be renamed, then deleted if the program works correctly. This saves about 1.48MB

Since most anyone who downloads from GOATD, the Microsoft.Visual C++ version 9 Runtimes should be installed to the system directory. If so, rename, run the program, verify it works, then delete Microsoft.VC90.CRT.manifest, msvcm90.dll, msvcp90.dll, and msvcr90.dll from the Tipard directory. This will save 1.38MB of space.

Navigate to the imageformats folder and delete these as well. Another 1.38 MB space freed up. Go to the sqldrivers directory and delete them here as well.

Go to the language folder and delete de.rcc, fr.rcc, and ja.rcc

Here's the kicker, if this completely works, do the same with all Tipard programs and for that matter, any folder named imageformats and sqldrivers and do the same thing.

There's possible savings here of 500,000 KB

Now would be a good time to defragment the hard drive.

More fun, search for .rcc files and copy these files to the Skin directory and you will have more skinning options. As not all .rcc files are skins, make sure the directory you copy them from is in a skins folder.

Not all will work, try one at a time.

comment number 4...who cares how many times it's given away? would you rather get an upgrade for free with a giveaway? or would you rather spend money on it?

I just got an external BR Drive and a top of the line phone for free, so this couldn't come at a better time. I am quite grateful for reruns.

Windows keeps track of DLLs by using a counter in the registry by removing them in this way you disrupt this counter mechanism.
Removing DLLs can cause a great deal of problems with the system, the small amount of space saved compared with the disruption you can cause makes it not worthwhile.
Removing DLLs in this manner is only for the experts!
