Sorry! Seems the basic idea with SUMo was born dead. This crappy thing takes you to do the downloads to do all the work yourself, instead of handling the process for you. This is just a "let me tell you what to do and how to spend your time" -program, very unnecessary as such and a VERY big disappointment.
An example: SUMo says my Shockwave for Internet Explorer is outdated. When the download link is clicked, it takes you to the BASE -page of Adobe - www.adobe.com (this is an outrage!) and just steals your time (read "life") here too. How could anyone in their right mind recommend this to anyone, and lose their own credibility for trusting "this"? Yack. At least it should know exactly what browser it is looking to update the plugin/addon for and go directly to that file, but even that would only be second best - when quietly managing the whole process would be the feature to look for. There are better solutions even free now and then here on GAOTD.

Hey kpson!
Don't want to start a flame war or trolling, but I thing your comments here MUST be "commented"!
I don't know your age or your experience with computers, so this is a BIG drawback for me. So, instead, I'll tell you "my" experience : I started programming around 1970 with COBOL. In the eighties a lot of Basic, dBase and Clipper - all languages most probably no one knows anything about. At those times there was no Windows. "Real" programmers used C. Nerds used MUMPS. And "zillions" programmers made programs in FORTUNE 100's companies ( which is my case ) to Mom's and Pop's next corner stores ( which is also my case ). Anyway, ONE thing I've learned in all these years : never, ever, NEVER let the "computer" do what it wants whenever it wants!! This is a SURE way to HELL!!! Some programs, when left alone, behave "better". Most don't. That's why there is such a big market for "fixing your computer" experts.
Unfortunatelly the great majority of users are not experts, and when it comes to upgrading computers and software they must relly on applications that do that for themselves. Mac users do not have that much trouble, because iOS does not let them do what they want, only what iOS wants. For non-experient users, that's the best thing. We, Windows users, that have ALL kinds of options, might suffer from this "freedom"!!!!
So, a program that tells you that there is something that you can change or upgrade, BUT, that lets you decide if you want or not to do it, is the BEST thing! Again, unfortunatelly, as the great majority of users do not have the slightest idea of what is going on, this is a problem. And I don't have a solution for this. Just hope some day, programmers will be able to accomodate all users, experts or not, needs!
As this is not a problem for me, I think programs as SUMO and DUMO are the best thing for me or for anyone that knows a bit abouty computers and programs!
Thanks GAOTD and Kcsoftwares
Mario

Small confusion installing:

1) readme.txt gives a "Registration" name and "Registration" key to use.
2) To get to the "Registration" form, you click on Help and then About. Some folks will know to try this, many will not. If this was mentioned, I missed it.
3) Clicking the "Register" button on the form takes you to the website to buy a "License."
4) Clicking the "License" button on the form allows you to enter the "Registration" info from the readme.txt file.

Good software but I wonder if this reverse labeling dissuades many potential users.

This is actually wonderful software that I've been using for years for keeping all my application software up-to-date. In my case, it examines 146 programs on my Windows 10 PC and lets me know when there is an updated version of each. I was amazed, for example, when it told me that my installed TurboTax needed updating (this is tax season). Sometimes (as when it's a Giveaway of the Day program) I don't want to update it. For these situations it gives me the option to skip this update "For ever", "For 1 day", "For 1 week", "For 1 month". Since I've been using the free version, I do NOT have the capability of using their installs for updated versions. I assume this version is the paid version and you would have that capability. I then have to update the software on my own. I've been doing that by typically using the sometimes builtin update capability (i.e. TurboTax) of each application needing an update or by downloading the program at the author's website.

I've never found ANY application update software anywhere near as complete as Sumo and I've tried many such as Ninite, Milouz Market, and FileHippo App Manager.

Does this software give us a chance to stop automatic downloads. (I have win 10 64 bit pro) I ask because I keep getting an automatic driver downloaded which causes problems with my computer. I have deleted this new driver 16 times and reinstalled the old video driver and for a day or two my computer works perfectly bur despite having taken all actions to stop automatic downloads up it pops again. Sorry for burdening you with this sob story but I am beginning to lose the will to live. LOL

Leslie Gee,

Researching online brings up many suggestions on how to stop this. If you google this, "video driver keeps updating in windows 10", it should help further. With that being said, I found this from a Windows-10-Forums post pointing to a Microsoft site; https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3073930/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-driver-update-from-reinstalling-in-windows-10

I went through all that, as I was now curious on this subject you brought up. Myself, I never have had an update issue with drivers, as I keep mine current, even though my machine is 6 years old and a laptop. Btw, I use IObit Drive Booster Version 4.2 Free (using this since version 2), and have it set to only update with certified drivers from specific vendor sites, and it has a roll back feature. Never an issue with bad drivers, or bad downloads with this driver updater all the years I been using it.

As with all other downloads, use buyer beware logic. Screen the file online (up to 128mg) at Virus Total, and a good on demand anti malware ( I use Zemana, Emsisoft, and Malwarebytes) if it is larger then 128mg.

Hope that helps, and you will now not think of jumping off that swing with your computer in despair, and breaking an ankle, and spooking kids at a playground. ;)

Cheers.
