I gave this program a fair run on my 64-bit W7, but it didn't work. I tried the auto-detect first, on a 15-minute video, which failed miserably. The logo was unchanged, and the output video was of poor quality, with many added artefacts. Then I tried the selection tool, with equally poor results. Uninstalled.
Pretty much useful tool if you deal with videos on a daily basis and are annoyed by the presence of watermarks and logos there...
However I've just tried to remove a watermark from a video and this app wasn't able to do that....but maybe I made a mistake?? Who knows...57% thumbs UP in a few minutes time seems to me too much.... something doesn't add up here!!
Anyway...if you are eager to know how to effectively remove LOGOS and even SUBTITLES from any VIDEO in a very professional way, without spending a DIME of course, just read this excellent guide:
http://www.videohelp.com/guides/category/how-to-extract-remove-subtitles-logo-from-a-video-5;66#841
As you can see, it mentions a couple of different tools besides VirtualDub and another VirtualDub filter more powerful than DELOGO called "LOGOAWAY":
http://voidon.republika.pl/virtualdub/ladocs301/logoaway.html
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/Logoaway.shtml
So once again there's no need to spend any money even for this kind of apps.
Enjoy!!
Downloaded, tried, uninstalled. Took 56 minutes to do a 16 minute movie. Didn't remove it all the way, and made the overall quality much lower. Complete waste of time. Lesson learned
RE Comment #3: Pertaining to the legality of removing logos from videos - Placing a logo on a video isn't automatically considered to be proof of ownership of the intellectual rights of the video. Many marketers will place their logos as overlays on videos and graphics that are in the public domain and/or were acquired with Private Label Rights. In either case it's perfectly legal to not only place a logo on the item in question, but also to remove one - without fear of legal repercussions.
It also depends to a large extent on what you intend to do with the video once you've removed the logo. If it's for your own "consumption" and won't be released for others to see - whether for profit or not - then you don't have anything to worry about. However, if you intend to use the video in any sort of commercial presentation, you venture into risky territory. If you "de-logo" a video that's used by a company in THEIR promotions, and "re-purpose it" (e.g. add your OWN logo to it), you'd better be absolutely certain that the video was originally in the public domain or that the PLR rights are available for it and that you procure those rights!
Quite often, many videos are available for free - and equally often the PLR rights are also given along with the video. If you're regularly using public domain and PLR videos and graphics commercially, it's wise to keep a log of each item that contains at the very least the source of the file and documentation of the rights that came with it. In the case of PLR, a document file that includes the licensing information is usually included in the zip file containing the content file.
Copyright infringement can be a very expensive thing to do, even with a seemingly insignificant thing like a button graphic or web page backgrounds and videos. This is also true for audio files, and I'm sure everyone has heard of high-profile cases where people have been assessed millions of dollars in fines for illegally distributing music files without paying appropriate royalties to the artist(s) who originally created the content - and rightly so! In the marketing arena, I've personally witnessed a very promising video-based social networking site completely destroyed just prior to public launch - all because a graphic was released to the company's affiliates that the company didn't have distribution rights for. The resulting legal mess ended up forcing the new company to abandon the project altogether.
There has been a thread of belief that has existed almost from the very beginning of public use of the internet: that the internet - and everything you find on it - should be FREE. In other words, if you're able to download it, it should be yours to do with whatever you wish. That mentality doesn't take into account (or totally ignores) the labors of the person creating the video, audio, text or graphic, and their right to profit from the fruits of those labors by offering them for sale, or licensing them for a particular use.
As far as today's software goes, it does a fair job, but it doesn't work miracles. The software has to "guess" how to fill in the background where the logo once was, and if there's a varying background during the course of the video, the software's "guesses" just aren't all that good - but in many cases they're good enough for home entertainment use. Using this software for commercial use is prohibited by terms of the giveaway anyway, so there's no point in commenting about its value as a commercial tool.
However, this software might serve well as a way to remove other prominent items in a home video. My advice is to play around with it. Why not? After all, it's being provided today for FREE! Thanks once again for the cool software, Team!
Selected the logo, made it red, but after pressing 'start' on the top nothing happens and the start button on the right seems to be dead. There is also a dead 'show/hide panels' button at the top.
Conclusion: does not work.
