Installed and registered without problems on a Win 81. Pro 64 bit system.

SoftOrbits Photo Retoucher allows you to remove unwanted people

Is this legal? Simply remove unwanted people? Okay, a short test.

I downloaded test picture on their site, the man in front of the church. I choosed a very small selection marker, radius 10, enlarged the picture with the mouse-wheel an selected carefully the shape of the man.

Then I pushed "remove" and stored the new picture to see the result under

The result is nearly the same, as their test. So they do not trick and you can repeat it by yourself. That's good!

SOftOrbis has at least a phone and a fax number. Better than nothing.

Usefull for those, who really want to remove unwanted people, despite of a really good result!

What this giveaway can bring you

- If you already have InPaint (Teorex) or Retouch Pilot (Two Pilots): Photo Retoucher supports transparency;
- If you already have Photo Stamp Remover (also by SoftOrbits): although the two softs partly overlap, there are much more tools in Photo Retoucher (concealer brush, scratch remover etc.) but no batch mode. There is also a downsized version of Sketch Drawer (SoftOrbits also) included.

Installed quickly on my Win 7 Home SSD. Registration is not a problem if you copy and paste the given # in the READ ME file. I was unable to use any of my email masking software to watch for spam from this entity's group. If you have a made up email, try it.

Drag and drop your image, good, a standard many softwares seem to forget. It holds the selections in the active pics field so you can work on a few at a time before saving. Good and nice and simple.

I've tried the remove tool on a wood panelling striped background with a girl in the middle taking up 33% of the shot. The image is far simpler than the one they use as their online demo pic of a cathedral. Just paneling and girl. Let's remove some strips of paneling on the repetitive background. Wow, it's not very good. The software just grabs anything near by and repeats it with no rhyme or reason or sense of continuity. So my two attempts left me with the background being replaced by a headless torso and next by an elbow a neck and mixmastered up background stripes going in TWO different directions. Broken tool.

Concealer Brush appears to be a simple paint tool. A REALLY simple paint brush. Why?

Image Correction is a Contrast / Brightness / Saturation control w/ auto correction. Auto did pretty good compared to CS2 Photoshop on an old Polaroid yellowed image BUT over corrects on black and white images. All darks become 100% pitch black. It has FADERS that move incrementally, but you are UNABLE TO SEE THE CORRECTION AS YOU MOVE THE FADERS. They apply the effect AFTER you move the fader with no warning of what you just did. So, they are there just to piss you off. Odd and ineffective.
~
The toolbox Panel on the right isn't attached to the software panel. The toolbox panel slides off the area and has to be dragged back into the frame and expanded to even access all the controls on the tool's right side. Shouldn't be like this.
~
Scratch Remover just takes localized areas that have nothing to do with scratches and blurs them. So it made all the folks in my black and white image look like semi-melted manikins. I toook the scratch size down to a 2 and tried again. Less so, but same result. Frustrating. Oh, and I'm unable to see a 1 click BEFORE AND AFTER image. I can ONLY correct it and keep it or don't. Really bad.
~
I give this program a negative review because none of the tools actually work as defined and the software isn't ready for distribution.

I tried the Scratch Remover on an old 1950's black and white photo that has a diagonal fold crease mark on it. The process took under a half hour and did a pretty good job. It even found scratches I had not considered and really cleaned up the picture. I compared it side by side with the scanned original and the difference was amazing. I will keep this program.
