This software is a keeper:
1. Nice and pleasant GUI, no need for help whatsoever since interface is very well thought.
2. Can be used as a regular audio player with standard bells and whistles and more: equalizer, balance, transparency, scheduler
3. Can read OGG, FLAC, etc.
4. Mixing table for sounds, can create personalized sound theme. Useful for those who find some sounds too noisy: you can edit a theme adn save it under another name, or create a theme from scratch. Easy to do.
5. Can record the audio playing (in OGG)
6. Funny effects rarely if ever found in players: echo and reverberation (try it with your favorite MP3)
7. Installation (XP PRO SP3 modded) can't be easier, just follow instructions.
8. Player keys (play, next, pause) in systray, does not appear in task bar
9. Player can be managed from the systray, with a right-click; menu seems complete
10. No nag, no BS. Clean.
I know my impressions look like a advertising brochure, but how to do otherwise?
With some imagination you could turn the software into a sample creator for repetitive music (do you know Terry Riley?). However, you must remind Halotea is only a player.
People who gave a vote down didn't bother to try the software. I did because at first, I thought it was a strange idea to ask a software to help me relax since if I want to relax, I choose some special activity foreign to work and set up a special environment, and generally it's without a computer. But the geeks out there could appreciate to listen different sounds while working.
So, I saw the screenshots, they appealed to me and what the heck, I downloaded it. The product description on this page is misleading, sort of.
Software takes less than 5 MB in Program files, about 54 MB in all users application data (mostly audio samples in OGG format). Memory: 214 K (virtual size) and 52 K (working set) as given by Process Explorer. One entry in the registry.
CONS:
* Systray notification might be a little intrusive, but the tooltip automatically disappears after 2 or 3 seconds.
* There could be a previous key in the systray
* No repeat function in the playlist
* Languages limited to Russian (hard coded into a DLL) and English (default)

Not really cons, but I had to find something, it's my nature. Took me much more time to write this review than to download, install, run and understand the software.
If it weren't for GOTD, I will never have heard of Halotea. Halotea deserves only thumbs up. Guys, give the product another chance.
I wouldn't mind to pay for it, but I find the price tag too high.

the problem with activation is solved. If you experience problems with registration, please re-download the GOTD archive to get the full version of Halotea.
ps: facing "The key can not be decrypted" error on installation's start up means you also need to re-download the installation file.
We are aware of the problem with activation and have already contacted the Developer in this regard.

I activated it and then it took it too "00 DAYS REMAINED" and is requiring me to reenter the Activation Key - which I did and nothing is happening. Will not let me start the program back up out of 'Trial Version'.
I go to the site, enter the code, then paste the activation code into Halotea and it tells me to restart. Yet everytime I restart it is the same thing over again. I have gone through this ten times, carefully validating the codes I put in and get out and do everything perfectly but it simply does not work. It says it is the trial version and has zero days remaining. The first time I ran the installer it said I had 14 days remaining. This is not user error, I have done this so many times now in exacting detail and the program simply refuses to accept the codes as pasted from the web page.

Alla fine dei conti è un player MP3 "potenziato", che offre cioè la possibilità di mixare alle vostre tracce mp3 un sottofondo di suoni rilassanti come pioggia, uccellini, grilli, ecc.
Il risultato è interessante e ha una funzione "record" per registrare da microfono, ad esempio per creare una meditazione guidata.
E' un peccato che il programma non dia qualcosa di piacevole da guardare (ha delle belle immagini ma non è possibile metterlo a tutto schermo, un visualizzatore sarebbe stato utile.
Inoltre il risultato finale (MP3+suoni) non è registrabile tramite il programma, e sarebbe stato veramente bello poterlo avere.
Un vero peccato che il programma dipenda dall'orrendo package Microsoft .net runtime, quasi un giga da scaricare per un player mp3 sembra un pò una presa in giro.
Ad ogni modo valeva la pena scaricarlo e installarlo, lo consiglio a tutti.

In realtà il software si lascia installare senza alcuna difficoltà in windows 7 x64.

Un programma davvero completo e flessibile, ricorda molto le app che oggi è molto facile trovare sugli smartphone, soprattutto iPhone, ma col vantaggio di poterlo utilizzare sul computer (molto indicato per i portatili in generale e i netbook in particolare, dove magari è più facile utilizzare delle cuffie che ne migliorano la fruizione).
Oltre ai numerosi 'ambienti' predefiniti (preset) dove è possibile regolare singolarmente i suoni d'ambiente e le melodie, è possibile costruirne di nuovi in modo semplice e veloce, combinando tutti gli elementi disponibili. Se volete lavorare in un'atmosfera che vi ricordi la jungla amazzonica, un accampamento estivo con tanto di fuoco scoppiettante, uno stagno con grilli e rane oppure un luogo astratto e fantasioso come la superficie di un pianeta lontano, non potete perdervi questo fantastico programma.... che tra l'altro fa anche da player audio e vi permette quindi di abbinare una o più tracce musicali all'ambiente scelto o creato, per esempio della musica classica o un brano strumentale qualsiasi, e così via. Insomma, come dicono gli inglesi "possibilities are endless", il limite è solo la vostra immaginazione :)

Nella sua piu'completa inutilita'questo soft sembra carino,dato che si preannuncia leggero, e privo di applicativi non inerenti al suo utilizzo.Attendo con ansia una recensione seria di chiunque abbia l'ardire di provarlo.Mancano 16 ore forza!!!

Ottimo programma, nonché completo, per chi ha un occhio, anzi un orecchio di riguardo per il proprio benessere psicofisico, pur trascorrendo molto tempo al pc. Programma che consente di unire l’utile e salutare al dilettevole, ricco di funzioni e preset personalizzabili, per ogni tipo di esigenza. Un vero must, all’avanguardia, da installare sul proprio computer senza pensarci due volte. Approfittatene!
