Vista Users - In order to successfully install this program on your system, you must first copy/paste the "setup.exe" file onto your desktop, and then "right-click" the "setup.exe" executable and run as Administrator. This approach will guarantee smooth installation. It worked well for me.

PROS:

* Successful download, installation, activation on Vista x64 OS.
* Registration information shows up in registration section.
* Program may be installed on 2 PCs for personal use.
* Simple, clear, easy-to-understand, easy-to-navigate GUI.
* Program allows user to add: photo frame decorations, art/music effects to slideshow.

* program allows user to: create custom-designed frames (limitless possibilities).
* Wondershare offers GOTD users 50% discount to buy upgraded version.
* I easily created a basic/simple flash slideshow (with 10 pics) in about 15 minutes, with music effects. The result was very good.
* program provides "publish" function, for users to publish slideshows to websites.
* program has preview section (at bottom of main screen) for user to view selected slideshow photos prior to finalizing end-product.

CONS

* Limited Number of standard (non-custom) available frame designs in program.
* occasional "invalid pointer operation" error message when clicking on frames. Message disappears when clicking on other frames.
* User must manually request registration key via wondershare's website. It's not an automatic process.
* Wondershare asks users to provide name and email address during registration process.
* Wondershare asks users to sign up for email newsletters during registration process.

SUMMARY: - Pros outweigh cons. Program allows user to easily produce/publish good-quality slideshow. Thumbs up. Thanks, GOTD & Wondershare.

This is pretty decent.

No problems with install, and activation. Though I don't like the change in activation here. It didn't make me happy to have ti give me e-mail address in order to get the activation key for a GAOTD program.

It's main strength is its Theme Designer that allows you to design your own templates. So if you do any graphic design, you can have control.

They don't give you many pre-designed templates, I only counted 15. But from what I see on their site of templates you can buy, to me they seem to be quite well done...polished and not cheesy looking.

This is quite feature rich, but you short of have to dig to find everything it can do.

My main issue with this one is it's weak UI. I'd like to see Wondershare pay more attention to the usability aspect. Put things in a main top menu bar, and have good right context menu options and the like.

On a personal level, I own several of these types of programs that I have paid for that are on a higher end level, so I'm not really sure how long I'll actually keep this installed.

But for anyone looking to create some nice looking slideshows without spending a lot of cash yes, this is amongst the ones I'd recommend.

One more thing I'd like to address...I don't want to open a can of worms and I could be wrong about this but...

It seems to be that whenever Wondershare offers a GAOTD, immediatly after its listed there are rating stars..and I mean immediatly. I actually was sitting here refreshing the page waiting for the new GAOTD to show up and within nano-seconds there are rating stars....it really appears that someone from Wondershare rates their own software here, and to me thats not right!

They have a pretty decent rep here so why not *truly* let the users rate it?

First it is a pity the developer and their "friends" have to pepper the board with inane comments.
Maybe there is a reason.

Usually I do NOT bother with those that require an email, yes I know it is easy to knock up fake, but it is the principle, free is free, not free as long as we can send our rubbish to you.
I don't use flash on my site but thought it would be great for my daughters photo album.

After download and activation there is a worrying little box which tells me I am getting 50% off as a GAOTD customer, a far call from FREE, but I have used GAOTD for several years and usually, free does mean free, so I proceed.

Second problem, after download, I have an error message:"access violation at...." which effectively freezes my computer, the app won't proceed, the error message won't close down.
Tried 3 times, 3 times same problem.
I recall this has been a reported error with other Wondershare downloads before.

Lastly, not a real problem but it annoys me the app opens to the WS site, fair enough but it forces IE with all its problems to open, not my default browser which is something I find close to arrogance from the developer.

So, it would have been a nice thing to have thanks GAOTD, but 3 strikes and out, it is going back to the rubbish bin.

About Upgrades Offers Inside Wondershare GOTD Versions

Be careful about upgrades offers inside Wondershare GOTD versions of their software.

I purchased an upgrade to a GOTD version that didn't work as the GOTD version, without first trying out.
I simply assumed that since the GOTD version worked, it would also work well.
Well, it didn't and it was a very bad experience; the software produced crashes trial after trial and I couldn't use it.

The company does not have a money back guarantee and refused to refund my purchase.
They actually did not believe that their program did not work and assumed I was lying.

I know they have received a lot of praises on GOTD, but this is my personal consumer experience.

I will never again try, buy or recommend any of their products.

Make sure you have tried and are fully satisfied before buying from any GOTD upgrade offer because you will never get your money back if anything goes wrong.

I also realised that some of the GOTD offers do not always have the same features as the non-GOTD versions.

Just a word to the wise.
