I have the previous version. Not a problem, served me well.
This new version appaers to be updated specifically for Windows7
users.. So on with the download..
I use EASEUS Partition Master & Paragon's partition app & haven't had real problems with either. Paragon's interface might be a bit more attractive, and it tries to be a bit more helpful, which is IMHO a double-edged sword -- copy your system partition (or restore a backup image) to an external drive for example, & Paragon's app will change the way your PC boots so it uses that external drive. If that's not what you want, it's a pain to fix things -- that's why I keep & use EASEUS Partition Master in addition to Paragon's app... it works reliably and tends to just do what it's told. The most common, popular, & free alternative is the Linux boot disc with Gparted [gparted.sourceforge.net].
Some will consider EASEUS Partition Master a bit large at ~76 MB in 582 files, 43 sub-folders, but that includes the boot disc ISO in the app's bin subfolder. 5 files go into Windows folders. The interface is straightforward, & allows you to visually size partitions by dragging. Operations you want done are listed but not applied until to give the OK -- most will be performed during a reboot before Windows restarts. As Ashraf has noted: "...“extend NTFS partition without reboot” does not always work…"
If you have several USB sticks [or maybe flash memory cards & a USB reader] lying around [I don't] Paragon might have an edge with their ability to *burn* a disc image creating a bootable USB device. Paragon's built-in utility might even be able to use the EASEUS Partition Master included ISO.
No matter how you do it, working with partitions can be risky -- even if everything works perfectly, the briefest power outage at the wrong moment could lose years of work & data -- so please back up your drives/partitions 1st... EASEUS has free drive imaging software if you need it. With Vista & 7 it's easier than earlier versions of Windows for the Master Boot Record [MBR] to get screwed up, so make sure that's backed up too [Paragon backup apps will let you make an image of the MBR separately].
#15: "...GAOTD gave away a similar product from Paragon (Paragon Drive Back-up 9) which also provides a partition manager etc. Any opinions about which is better? I have been using the Paragon to create and manage partitions, and perform daily back-up and periodical HD copy."
Paragon has separate back-up & partition apps, though there is some feature overlap. If you don't have their Partition Mgr software, then EASEUS Partition Master is better than the limited partition capabilities in Paragon Drive Back-up. If you have the Paragon partition software, EASEUS is, well, different -- each has features that I like -- rather than one being better/worse IMHO... it's your choice whether you want to add an EASEUS app that does essentially the same things as Paragon Partition Mgr. I like having both for the times Paragon's software won't do exactly what I want, but that's me. ;-)
The separate, free EASEUS back-up, drive imaging app doesn't come close to Paragon's Drive Back-up. Acronis I think does [many will say it surpasses Paragon's], & the company that makes the hard drive(s) in your PC/laptop may have a free version [Seagate for example has their SeaTools & DiscWizard download &/or disc].
@5: Y'know, I see this kind of comment often for various products, and I've even agreed with it in the past. Then I stopped to think and try to reconcile the two statements, and found that doing so is fairly simple.
You get software from GotD, and you use it strictly for personal use. If during your strictly personal use evaluation, you realize that it would be very useful to you in a business use scenario, then you BUY IT FOR BUSINESS USE.
Where's the disconnect?
