Database currently has 4146 titles - of which 271 are in German, 106 in French, 67 in Dutch, 28 in Portuguese, 27 in Italian, 26 in Spanish, 8 in Danish, 6 in Russian, 6 in Finnish, 5 in Swedish, 4 in Latin, 2 in Polish, 1 in Urdu and 1 in Tamill.
All titles appear to be classics or obscure titles. Don't expect to find any recent bestsellers here. But then again, that's exactly what the free audiobook databases contain (like LibriVox), so no real surprises there.
There is no option of defining any search parameters, and results are sorted by Author's surname. You can either browse all the titles at once or type in a keyword to find a title. This means that you really need to know what you are looking for, as there is too large a number of titles to browse (unless you're looking for something in a non-English language). Having some search parameters would certainly have helped (i.e. displaying all audiobooks within a specified genre).
Downloading a title allows you to choose a level of quality, which I assume depends on how it is stored on the various databases. "Dracula" had options of 64kbps MP3, 128kbps MP3 and Ogg Vorbis formats. Choosing the 128kbps MP3 (907MB) downloaded straight away at 1.32 MB/s on my connection, which is fairly good. You can even download multiple titles at the same time. They open in seperate download windows.
I was able to play it on VLC & JetAudio without issue. I can't see any problems with then transfering this file as is to an MP3 player.
I find the LibriVox website much better for browsing, as it allows me to browse by genre and provides options to download single chapters, to see how the reader sounds. The download options are rubbish, though, as most books only allow you to download them in full at 64kbps MP3. You have to either listen to a stream for higher quality, or download books by chapters. This programme happily bypasses that.
Bottom-line, this programme does exactly what it says on the tin. If you're a lover of audiobooks and the classics, then this is certainly worth a look.
As a free product, I would give this programme a rating of 6/10. If I had to pay for it, I'd give it a 1/10. I'll be keeping it, and using it in conjuction with searches/browsing made in LibirVox.
This is a nifty little program. Yes, it's true that these books are available for free without the program but for anyone into audiobooks, this is a good program to have. You can pick various qualities as seen here: http://i.imgur.com/MvP8q.png
The transfer rate is good (mine was 338 KBs) That will depend on your connection but it's nice to know the source's server is fast.
These are great for road trips, listening to around the house or burning to disc to gift as a volunteer for the blind. It was cool to learn that we can volunteer to record ourselves and submit books (written before 1928) to the library for others to listen to. More info on volunteering here: http://librivox.org/volunteer-for-librivox/
Dear users, this is a quick start guide for Audiobook Downloader Pro:
1. Download and install the program, then run it. This giveaway is already activated, so you do not need to deal with serial numbers.
2. On the main window, type-in a search query into the corresponding field. The search string may be a book name, author, or a language name (for instance: “War and Peace”, “Charles Dickens”, or “German”).
3. You can access an audiobook summary by selecting a search result item and then calling the File -> Open Audiobook Page menu command.
4. Download an audiobook (File -> Download Audiobook), then listen and enjoy it!

If you liked this software, order your own copy now -- then you will get technical support and future updates for Audiobook Downloader Pro for free!
Also, should have mentioned that the downloaded file at 128kbps MP3 is not one file, but all the chapters individually. The programme just downloads them in one go for you.
Audiobooks are a great way to learn or improve the listening and speaking skills of a foreign language (English in my case...LOL!)
But heck....are you eager to download free and open-domain audiobooks?
Just go here and then search & download whatever you want:

What's the problem, dudes??
No offense meant for the developer but, in my humble view, charging users $29.95 for something they could do for FREE does not make sense to me.
Cheers from Italy!!
E' un programma che scarica SOLO audiolibri in un unico sito per cui è già di per sé limitato.
Inoltre gli audiolibri sono solo in Inglese.
Personalmente lo sconsiglio, programmino inutile.
