The Bad
* Limited to just YouTube - no other video hosting services supported.
* Can't convert to MPG/MPEG video.
* Limited to only MP3 format when ripping audio.
* You can't resize the 'browser' window (it is pretty small).
* "Remove" button does not remove a video/stop it after it passes the "Awaiting" stage.
* No batch processing/you can't download or covert more then one video at a time.
* Sometimes the videos get stuck at 0% download and don't start.
* A page opens up after you click on "Register" prompting you to buy the software.
* A page opens up in IE (regardless of your default browser) after you register the software taking you to the developer's website.

Verdict:
I give YouTubeGet a thumbs up because it's ability to download/convert YouTube videos directly into WMV, MOV, MP4, 3GP or AVI video formats. This helps cut down on middle management and helps save a person a step. However, I do not recommend YouTubeGet because it is limited to only YouTube and it is limited in output video/audio output formats when compared to file converters such as FormatFactory or Super. That being said, my recommendation for today is the combination of ClipFinder and FormatFactory. ClipFinder is an amazing program that acts like a search engine for 14 popular video hosting websites and has the ability to download videos while FormatFactory has the ability to convert those videos into whatever format you want.

#9, lostinlodos, I honestly think that you make stuff up, generally bashing the giveaway, in the hope that ignorant people will mistake made-up techno-babble as expertise.
"...THE LATEST FLASH-d, FLASH-m AND FLASH-cpt FORMATS". Huh? Why does Google return no matches, no matches in the Wikipedia Adobe Flash article, no matches in the Flash Video article, and most importantly, no matches in the 48-page official Adobe Video File Format Specification Version 10 or the 278-page official Adobe SWF File Format Specification Version 10. You once compared a giveaway to four other programs; I couldn't find any references anywhere to any of them.
"Can NOT convert partial streams/failed downloads." So, it can't convert something which was never downloaded. Gee, I wonder why.
"...rebuffered files." WTF are you babbling about?

Beyond that, this interface is HORRID!
Right off at the beginning, registering requires clicking the "Buy" link, which IGNORES SYSTEM DEFAULT settings for browser and opens up an IE page and also brings up the registration input box. FireFox is my default for a reason; principally that Microsoft Internet Security Flaw id dangerous to use 100% of the time.
Converter opens separately.
DOES NOT CONVERT THE LATEST FLASH-d, FLASH-m AND FLASH-cpt FORMATS!
Can NOT convert partial streams/failed downloads.
Can NOT convert rebuffered files.
And everyone will have to make up their own mind, but I just can't stand the interface.
The registration key works for the downloader but not the converter. Can this be fixed?

Anche io, fino a circa un anno fa, per scaricare i file video utilizzavo l'estensione di Firefox DownloadHelper.
Poi ho scoperto Orbitdownloader e, come ha già detto Mauro, scarico i video (e non solo) da qualsiasi sito in tempi velocissimi.
Proprio oggi l'ho aggiornato alla versione 2.8.5 !!!
Come convertitore invece, (anche se lo utilizzo molto raramente), resto fedele a FormatFactory.
Cmq, come ha gentilmente segnalato Popof, proverò aTube Catcher.

ué!!!...ma grazie romi (commento n°15):mi hai fatto scoprire una cosa che ignoravo (forse perché non mi capita di usarlo molto frequentemente e perché lo conosco ancora poco avendolo installato abbastanza di recente). Allora francamente di questo software odierno non so bene cosa farmene , soprattutto a causa della enorme lentezza delle conversioni.
Però ringrazio "gaotd" in ogni caso .

Io attualmente uso l'estensione per ff3 download helper, e mi trovo molto bene, non mi serve un programma, comunque rigrazio GAOTD anche oggi!

lo sto provando: è molto semplice da usare ed effettivamente la possibilità disalvare solo la parte audio di un video è molto comoda.
Di contro, i tempi della conversione e del salvataggio del file sono lentissimi!
Tra le alternative gratuite io consiglierei "atube catcher" che è un ottimo software e permette di salvare video non solo da youtube, però non offre la possibilità di salvare solo l'audio.

@Itsas (commento n°9) si, io lo conosco e sono d'accordo con te che sarebbe la soluzione ideale, ma purtroppo non funziona bene per niente: per esempio continua a salvare sempre lo stesso video malgrado io ne abbia selezionato uno successivo. Insomma: è molto perfettibile.
A proposito del software odierno:per Fede (commento 4) ma hai incollato il seriale contenuto nel file di testo "read me.TXT"? lancia il programma e poi clicca su "about/register" (nella barra del menù in alto). Ti connetterai in automatico con la pagina del sito produttore:chiudi la pagina e troverai il form in cui incollare il seriale della licenza.

kickyoutube è un servizio online che vi fa scaricare da youtube il vostro filmato con estensione FLV, MPG, MP3, MP4, HD, AVI, 3GP, IPHONE, PSP, OGG e GIF.
Andare sul sito di youtube e cercare il filmato desiderato, una volta trovato anteponete davanti a youtube la parola kick
esempio:

diventerà:
http://kickyoutube.com/watch/?v=Hdk2bp1DL5s&feature=rec-HM-r2
sopra il filmato appariranno dei pulsanti per scegliere il formato, dopo aver scelto il formato cliccare il pulsante verde (GO) ATTENDERE che venga generato il link ed il pulsante "GO" cambierà aspetto con la caption da "GO" in "DOWN" a questo punto cliccare col destro sul pulsante e scegliere "salva destinazione con nome" per Firefox
per Internet Explorer se non ricordo male dovrebbe essere "Salva oggetto con nome"

io uso da tempo VDownloader, è gratuito, facilissimo da usare, permette di scaricare e salvare oltre che in formati diversi video anche in formato audio mp3 e poi anche da altri siti oltre che youtube. E' semplicemente perfetto, ve lo consiglio.

il motivo per cui è migliore, a mio parere, è che puoi scegliere anche di salvare SOLO l'audio di un video ad esempio musicale.....è molto comodo

Scaricato ed installato senza problemi. Dopo aver inserito la license key, il programma chiede di essere riavviato. Al riavvio la copia rimane unregistered. Riavviato anche il pc ma il problema rimane...
