MagicScore School 5, come dice il nome, è stato creato per le persone che vogliono imparere la musica, ma anche musicisti professionisti lo possono usare. Le note possono essere inserite manualmente, copiate, aggiunte da un pianoforte virtuale, tastiere MIDI o sintetizzatori. MagicScore School 5 può anche leggere le note da file MIDI e Karaoke, come può registrare MIDI e Karaoke.
Il programma supporta anche formati XML per importare musica da un programma per scannerizzare. Funziona anche con Windows Vista.
